Kitchen 5315 Restaurant & Tiki Bar was created by Claire Pastula Byler, her husband Darren Byler, and longtime Cafe O’Lei manager Napa Recopuerto. Claire is the daughter of Maui restaurateurs Dana and Michael Pastula, connecting the restaurant to an established family tradition in the island’s dining industry.
The restaurant’s opening represented a new independent venture while maintaining connections to the hospitality experience developed through Cafe O’Lei.
This combination of experience, family influence, and a new restaurant concept helped shape the identity of Kitchen 5315 Restaurant & Tiki Bar.
A New Chapter in Napili
Kitchen 5315 Restaurant & Tiki Bar opened in a location at Napili Shores that had hosted several restaurants over the years. Before Kitchen 5315, the space had been associated with concepts including Cafe O’Lei, Fish & Poi, Napili Tavern, Maui Grill, and Iron Imu.
Rather than simply continuing the history of the location, Kitchen 5315 introduced its own personality.
The concept combined casual restaurant dining with a tiki-bar experience, creating a setting where guests could enjoy a meal, meet friends, relax with a cocktail, and experience a distinctly tropical environment.
